Tim & Joey had a stunning wedding at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. This was my first time shooting there, and I was amazed at the beauty of the venue, which was enhanced by their decor. Everything was timeless.

Tim & Joey had a stunning wedding at the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. This was my first time shooting there, and I was amazed at the beauty of the venue, which was enhanced by their decor. Everything was timeless.
We started of the evening with a first look at the zoo entrance, followed by a few shots at the sign where they got engaged. Then an event coordinator for the zoo drove us around in a golf cart so that we were able to capture portraits in multiple locations. The last stop was at the aquarium, where the ceremony & reception were held.
Cocktail hour overlooked the reception area, then the guests were seated at their tables for the ceremony. Everything was amazing. Towards the end of the reception we snuck out for a few night shots (with sparklers!). From beginning to end, this wedding was magical. Congrats Tim & Joey!

Kristen and Joel met when they worked together. Like something out of a movie, it started as an (almost) forbidden romance - because he was her boss! Luckily, that didn't stop them, and they fell in love quickly.

Their wedding was full of personal touches and details that focused on their shared interests. If you remember, they were the couple that had a video game & puzzle themed engagement session in their home. See it here! So I just knew their wedding would be even better; and I wasn't disappointed! Video game character place cards and table numbers were just the start. My personal favorite was their cake topper.

Deena & Adam have been together since college at Ohio State University. They started planning the wedding right after the proposal, and you can tell there was a lot of effort put into it! Some of you may remember their engagement session last year, which featured a handmade dress and save-the-date sign. I knew then that the wedding would be DIY heaven, and I was right!
Deena, who sells her own hand-lettered art, created a ballroom straight out of Beauty and the Beast, complete with gilded framed accents, gold wine bottle candle holders, and so much more. However, the best part was how much laughter and love filled the ballroom. Adam & Deena were a joy to photograph.
Also, at the end of the night, ducks may have invaded our night-time photos. And chased us around for a bit. So make sure you scroll all the way to the end to check those shots out!

Csongi & Yvette | Budapest, Hungary
As many of you know, I traveled to Budapest last week to attend the Fearless Photographers Conference (and tour lots of cool places of course!). I'll be writing a blog post soon that has all the amazing details and photos of the trip, so keep an eye out this week!

While we were there, Sandra (the owner of Sandrachile and awesome traveling companion) really wanted to photograph a styled shoot. She posted in a Budapest Facebook group to look for models. A few people volunteered, and she ended up talking with some awesome couples. She chose who she wanted to work with, and asked the other couple if they'd be willing to work with me.
That other couple ended up being Csongi & Yvette, who are two amazing individuals. They met me by our AirBnb, and we walked around the city capturing beautiful images. When I asked if there were anymore places they'd like to go, they volunteered to drive me up to the overlook, a beautiful historic area called the Fortress. While driving through the city, they gave me a tour, telling me the stories and history of the area. We spend almost 3 hours together, and they ended the night by giving me a magnet of Budapest! How sweet!?!?!

Karen & Mike are fun, down-to-earth people. They're getting married this year, so we started planning out their engagement shoot as soon as they booked. We tossed around some ideas, and decided that what felt the most authentic was to photograph their favorite dates. Karen sent me two placed - Generosta Coffee and YuM Frozen Yogurt. Luckily, both places graciously allowed us to capture pictures.
The photos turned out to be a great mix of documentary & posed. I'm so excited to photograph their wedding in September!

Jessie and I went to high school together, and we work together at many weddings throughout the year. She's one of my go-to second shooters, and she's a blast to work with. When she asked me to photograph her family in their first home, how could I say no!?

Jessie and I went to high school together, and we work together at many weddings throughout the year. She's one of my go-to second shooters, and she's a blast to work with. When she asked me to photograph her family in their first home, how could I say no!? Jessie and her daughter, Elaina, have three adorable guinea pigs and a loveable puppy that insisted on stealing the show (more than once).
We focused on the fun they have together in their home, everything from reading a book together to jumping on the bed! I can't wait to photograph more lifestyle shoots like this one.

When we met to plan out Jovanna & Troy's engagement session, they had an idea in mind. They wanted snow, and they especially wanted a shot in front of Soldiers & Sailors with snow falling around them. The day before their shoot, Pittsburgh had perfect snow flurries falling down. The day of their shoot - nothing. Even the snow that was on the ground started melting! Pittsburgh weather is notoriously fickle.
Even though we couldn't capture that particular shot, they still braved the cold (really cold) wind around Phipps for their engagement session. We were able to warm up during their more formal shots at the Cathedral of Learning. We even lucked out and got to experience a concert in the Common Room!
They absolutely rocked their entire session. Usually I give some posing tips, but these two seemed like pros! Can you tell?

Often, couples get professional photographs done for the very first time together during their engagement shoot. Since it is the first time, it is usually a little awkward, and I often take the lead posing so that my couples can get comfortable. With these two, I barely had to do a thing. They were so natural together! I can't wait to photograph their wedding!
